Building the Capacity of School Systems to Deliver on the Promise of Public Education

LearnScope is a consulting and research firm that helps K–12 leaders build the organizational systems needed to turn ambitious goals into sustained outcomes

The Opportunity

Educators today have more funding, more technology, and more access to knowledge than ever before, but it is harder for school district leaders to deliver outcomes for their communities. Why?

As they layered and expanded programs to support students, school districts have developed into highly complex organizations that limit the impact of the educators within them. The last decade of K-12 education was defined by doing more. The next decade will be defined by doing better.

LearnScope is here to help K-12 leaders amplify the impact of educators in their communities and deliver high-quality support to their students.

Our Theory of Action

For too long, K-12 leaders have been sold “silver bullets” to improve outcomes, reduce costs, and streamline operations. As they adopted these promising initiatives, school systems experienced increased complexity and costs even as student outcomes stagnated. The solution is not another initiative or program or technology tool.

We believe that K-12 leaders can more reliably support educators and students when they promote clarity, coherence, and collective learning across all levels, from district to school to classroom.

We call this School System Capacity.

Meet the Founder

My name is Adam Hogue, and I am the son of two public school educators from Ohio. I grew up watching my parents navigate the impossible tradeoffs of teaching and leading schools, which inspired my professional focus on education and workforce development.

Over the last fifteen years, I have worked with hundreds of school systems across the country, most recently as Senior Vice President at BetterLesson, where I led teams focused on improving how districts support teachers and leaders at scale. Before that, I advised K-12 and workforce development leaders at Deloitte and the District Management Group focused on building resilient organizational infrastructure and promoting evidence-based decision making.

I now live in Massachusetts with my wife and toddler, where you can find me watching Cleveland sports (optimism required) and trying to identify birds in my backyard.

I earned an AB in Government from Harvard College and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.
